Bonnie was one of my best friends from 7th grade on.  We were very competitive, but never contentious, and that made us both better, both academically and personally.  I have many wonderful memories of our times together, and although we did stay in touch off and on as the years passed, I wish I had made more of an effort.  She died in 2001.  I wish that were not the case.

I was deeply saddened to discover that Bonnie had passed away. Although I was a year ahead of her, we had a number of classes together and were friends during my final three years of high school. (I had a huge crush on her but never the nerve to ask her out.) Then, during summer break of 1969, when we were both in college, we went to several concerts together at Blossom Music Center. We saw BB King, Blood, Sweat & Tears, and Janis Joplin, among others. Those are still some of the best memories from that time of my life. Unfortunately that was the last time I ever saw her. Although relatively short, I do hope her life was a happy one. I'll always be grateful to her for some wonderful memories and for her influence on my love of music. I'm so sorry she's gone.                                                                                                                                                            "And if it's only all about the journey in the end,                                                                                     On that road I'm glad I came to know my old friend."                                                                                       Emmylou Harris, "The Road"
