Donny was certainly a free spirit. I didn't really know him till we were out of school, and kept running into each other. I had such a crush on him then. Wish he were still with us.
Donny was my best friend. We both went to Market Street Elementary and were both very athletic and competitive, which probably kept us somewhat apart as friends early on. Had my first beer (warm I might add as it was purloined from someone's garage) with Donny after our football loss to Struthers in 1967. Donny would do anything for a friend, and had a long list of people he considered so. He was the gold standard of what a friend should be. My daughter Larissa and he share the same birthdate, June 10. I think of him often and miss him very much. Rest in peace, my friend.
I knew Donny since I was 3 years old from our Sunday School class. He talked my brother and I into taking cookies on a night that parents were at choir practice and we were banned from the class for a few weeks. For some reason he used to pinch me when we were in Jr church, probably to get me to smack him when the teacher was looking. He was certainly a wonderful person and a great friend. Full of compliments when I saw him at reunions. I truly believe that Donny gave his friends unconditional love which he recieved back from many. miss him
