Richard B. Patterson VIEW PROFILE

Boardman – Richard B. “Rich” Patterson, 76, of Boardman, passed away peacefully Monday afternoon at his residence.

Richard was born November 16, 1949, in Youngstown, the son of Jacob Baylor and Jean Elizabeth (Braun) Patterson, and was a lifelong area resident.

A 1968 graduate of Boardman High School, Richard continued his education at Youngstown State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he received the Marksman Badge with a Rifle Bar.

Richard’s career as a truck driver spanned for many years and he retired from Schwebel’s Baking Company after 30 years of service where he got the nickname “Rambo”. He was a dedicated member of Teamsters Union Local 377 and took great pride in his work and the relationships he built along the way.

Richard had many passions throughout his life. He enjoyed trading stocks, watching sports, and tackling projects around the house—earning the nickname “Mr. Fix It” among those who knew him best.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory the love of his life, his wife of over 42 years, the former Martha Johnson, whom he married June 11, 1983; his beloved daughter, Kristen (David) Kolcun; a sister, Christy Lou (Thomas) Vross; a brother, Jeffrey (Pamela) Patterson; and his grand-dog, Wren—also known affectionately as “Hound Dog.” He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and a niece Jill Patterson.

Family and friends may pay their respects on Sunday, November 30, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 1:50 p.m. at the Rossi and Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Boardman, where a funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Matthew Ferguson officiating.
